Ireland are in strong position to win the Masters International Rules series ahead of today's second Test against Australia in Denn, Co. Cavan.

Jimmy Galligan's charges coasted to a 104-21 victory in Wednesday night's first Test in Clonberne, Co. Galway. The hosts were always in control, leading by 51-14 at half-time and putting the result beyond doubt in the third quarter with goals from ex-Cavan star Jason O'Reilly and Conor O'Meara.

History was made on the night when former Footballer of the Year Declan Meehan and Sligo All Star Eamonn O'Hara joined Wicklow's Kevin O'Brien and Offaly's John Kenny as the only players to represent their country in the series at senior and masters level.

The Paddy Gaffney Cup - named after the former Denn, Cavan and Ireland stalwart who died in 2006 - will be presented to the winners after the second Test, which has a 2pm throw in at St. Mathew's Park.
