Charlotte with the team in Ghana

Fr Murphy's Ladies Gaelic Football & Camogie Club would offer their deepest sympathy to the Howlin Family on the death of Jim's mother Margaret (Peggy) who died recently at the age of 99 years.. The Howlin Family have been an integral part of the Fr. Murphy's Club since the early 1960's, with Peggy's son Jim, the current chairman of the men's club. Her grandson's and Jim's sons Darren, Jimmy and Sean all hurled for the club and with London, whilst Jim's daughters, Maggie and Patricia were requlars on the ladies football team, when it started in the mid 1980's. Peggy originally came from Grange in County Wexford and was laid to rest, this week, at Kensal Green Cemetery after Mass in Quex Road, Kilburn.    Ar dheas De go raibh ar anam.

One of the club's Footballers Charlotte Faughnan, has just returned from a volunteer trip, by Cross border solutions to Ghana, where she spent two weeks at an orphanage in Hohoe in the Volta Region, she took with her a set of club jersey's, sponsored by Julie O Neill of Cara Personnel in Harrow and a football and organised an All Ghana football final on St Patrick's Day, Fr Murphy's (Volta Region) v The Rest, it was a tremendous game, with the sides inseparable all the way, through. It was amazing how quickly the children picked up the skills of Gaelic Football. For the record Fr Murphy's (Volta Region) won with a goal from a penalty in the last minute of extra time. Both the Fr Murphy's Club and Cara Personnel are delighted to have been associated with this event.

The season in both Camogie and Ladies Football is about to start, with a lot of new players making their debuts for the club over the next few weeks.
Anyone interested in joining the club as a player, mentor or supporter would be most welcome. Check out our website www.frmurphys.co.uk or contact Larry on 00 44 7944178879 or email [email protected]
