Liberty Insurance Senior Camogie Championship Saturday July 5th

July 04, 2014
Galway vs Dublin, Kenny Park, Athenry, 3.15pm, Cathal Egan
Galway should get their campaign back on track against a Dublin side who suffered a heavy opening round defeat to Cork. Aislinn Connolly has returned to the Galway side and along with Niamh McGrath, at centre forward and Brenda Hanney, they pose a strong threat to the Dublin rearguard. Tony Ward's side were disappointed to lose out to Wexford in the opening round, conceding a late goal and point. With an away trip to Cork to come, points are crucial in the race to the knock-out stages. Expect a rejuvenated Galway side to record a win.
Verdict: Galway

Wexford vs Cork, Wexford Park, 3.15pm, Karl O Brien
Wexford sit top of the table after their opening win against Galway and there were enough signs exhibited on that day, to reflect a team which is intent on All Ireland honours. Kate Kelly and Josie Dwyer were impressive while Ursula Jacob was a constant scoring threat. Cork, under Paudie Murray, had an easy win over Dublin and Wexford will test their championship credentials. The Mackey sisters Katrina and Pamela, Jenny O'Leary and Orla Cotter are key performers but Wexford at home, should collect the points.
Verdict: Wexford

Offaly vs Derry, O'Connor Park, Tullamore, 1.30pm, Aiden O Brien
Offaly must win against Derry to keep their championship hopes alive. They suffered an agonising two point defeat to Clare last weekend and Aiden Franks's charges will need to be in top form against a Derry side, which possess talents such as Karen Kielt, Sinead Cassidy and Meabh McGoldrick. Much will depend on Elaine Dermody at full-forward and Michaela Morkan at centre-back. Offaly's greater championship experience should see them through, but only just.
Verdict: Offaly

Tipperary vs Kilkenny, The Ragg, 3.15pm, John Dolan
Kilkenny opened their 2014 championship with a comprehensive victory over Offaly and they face a very young Tipperary side on Saturday. Graham Dillon's charges should collect their second win of the round robin series, leaving them in a strong position for a semi-final spot.
Verdict: Kilkenny
