Corcoran to captain Cork

October 23, 2006

Brian Corcoran
Brian Corcoran will captain the Cork hurlers next year after his club Erin's Own were crowned county senior hurling champions on Sunday. The 33-year-old full forward revealed last week that he had no thoughts of retirement and is expected to be nominated by Erin's Own for the 2007 captaincy. Corcoran is the only Erin's Own player on the current Cork starting team, although Cian O'Connor, Kieran Murphy and rising star Eoghan Murphy are also likely to be involved next year after playing starring roles in the 2-19 to 3-13 victory over Cloyne, who included Donal Og Cusack and Diarmuid O'Sullivan in their line-up. Corcoran last skippered the Rebels in 1993 when he led them to a National League success following three games against Wexford.
