Bernard Brogan plans to sit down with Dublin manager Jim Gavin to see if there’s still a meaningful role for him in the Dubs senior squad.
The 34-year-old former Footballer of the Year collected his sixth All-Ireland medal this summer but his involvement in the Dubs’ fourth successive Sam Maguire Cup win was minimal as he suffered a second cruciate ligament injury in February and missed the entire championship bar a cameo appearance in the dead rubber Super 8s clash with Roscommon.
The Dublin great told 2FM this afternoon that he’d love to be part of the drive for five. “It's a big carrot. I'm still working with the Dublin physios to get myself right and then it's about sitting down with Jim.
“As you know, these young lads keep on coming through the ranks. I'm definitely going to sit down with Jim and see is there a role and if they want me back.
“It's tough to walk away from, it's been an amazing journey. We've done so well and had such amazing times and even if I step away, it's been an amazing ride.”
