Rochford turns to Ford and Conway

New Mayo selectors Peter Ford and Shane Conway.

Former Galway and Sligo manager Peter Ford is set to take on a selector's role in Stephen Rochford's new look Mayo backroom team.

RTE.ie reports that the 1992 Connacht SFC winning captain and his fellow Breaffy joint-manager Shane Conway will join the outgoing Joe Keane as selectors following the exits of Tony McEntee, Peter Burke and Donie Buckley.

Ford was a selector with John Maughan back in 1996 and '97 when Mayo reached the Sam Maguire Cup deciders.

He guided the Tribesmen to Connacht SFC honours in 2005 and Ballintubber to Mayo SFC glory in 2014

Conway, meanwhile, is also well-known in coaching circles in Mayo and was joint-manager with the Rice College Westport team that reached this year's All-Ireland Post-Primary Schools Senior 'A' football championship final.
