eir Sport announce club championship coverage

August 24, 2017

Dave McIntyre eir Sport commentator, Brian Quinn, Marketing and Operations Director, and Ger Gilroy eir Sport presenter pictured today announcing eir Sport's new five year deal to broadcast live AIB GAA Football and Hurling Club Championship games.

eir Sport will be in Donegal on Sunday, September 10th, to broadcast live coverage of two quarter finals in the county's senior club football championship.

It will be an historic first for Ireland's only dedicated sports channel who announced it had won rights to broadcast from the AIB Club Football and Hurling Championships back in March.

The teams involved in the double header will be confirmed depending on the outcome of results this coming weekend but throw-in times of 2pm and 4pm have been scheduled.

The following Saturday, September 16th, will see eir Sport broadcast games from the club hurling championship for the first time.  Two quarter finals from the Limerick championship will be live at 5pm and 7.45pm.

Glen Killane MD of eir TV & Sport commented; "We are really excited to begin broadcasting from the AIB Club Championships and would like to thank the Donegal and Limerick County Boards for their support in making it happen.  It will be great to get up and running and further fixtures will be announced in the coming weeks."

eir Sport will broadcast up to 30 games from the AIB GAA Football and Hurling Club Championships this year alone as part of a five-year deal with the GAA.  These are additional games to those which were already being broadcast.

It marks a significant increase in the GAA offering available through the eir Sport pack, which is already home to live coverage of the Allianz Leagues.  In addition to broadcast rights, eir Sport has online clip rights for the Club Championships, Allianz Leagues and Championship games.  eir Sport also has archive rights to show reruns of classic GAA matches and eir is an official sponsor of the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship.

eir Sport is available free to all eir broadband residential customers who will also receive four BT Sport channels plus BoxNation as part of the eir Sport pack.
