Tyrone upped the ante considerably in the second-half of today's Ulster SFC final against Down and manager Mickey Harte was happy that some wayward shooting didn't come back to haunt them at the final whistle.

The Red Hands put a below par first-half performance behind them to run out convincing 2-17 to 0-15 winners thanks to two second-half goals from substitute Ronan O'Neill.

When asked what he said to his players during his half-time team talk, Harte revealed to BBC Sport Northern Ireland: "I said we were in a battle last year to the very end so if this goes to a battle to the end - we're up for it.

"I felt we didn't do ourselves justice in the first half in terms of the scoreboard.

"We had 16 chances and we got seven points. I feel that if we had have taken another three or four more of those it would have been a very comfortable position.

"But actually the point just before half-time to put two in it was a very critical score because that gave us the last score of the half.

"I felt that Down had put in a huge effort in the first half and that we would have more energy as the game went on."
