Dunboyne 1-10

Bantry Blues 1-3

In one of the very few GAA fixtures to go ahead today, Dunboyne were crowned All-Ireland ladies club junior football champions following a comfortable win over Bantry Blues at the Gaelic Grounds.

Vikki Wall was the scoring hero for the Meath side, who led by 1-3 to 0-1 at half-time. In very testing conditions, the teams could only manage two points between them in the opening half an hour, but then Wall struck for 1-1 in injury-time to put Dunboyne in the driving seat.

The winners extended their lead on the restart with scores from Shelley Melia, Aoife Thompson and Wall before the West Cork girls were given hope when Aoife O'Driscoll's goal cut the gap to six points, 1-2 to 1-8, with three minutes remaining.

But, fittingly, Wall responded with two late points to seal the deal for Dunboyne.

The senior and intermediate finals are scheduled to take place in Parnell Park tomorrow.
