Rackard Cup: Fallon wins it for Rossies

April 26, 2014

Roscommon take on Donegal in the opening round of the Nicky Rackard Cup
Roscommon 1-12
Donegal 1-11

Gerry Fallon struck a late winning point for Roscommon in their Nicky Rackard Cup preliminary round clash with Donegal at Athleague this afternoon.

After losing last year's Rackard Cup final and this year's Allianz League Division 3A decider to the same opposition, revenge was sweet for the Rossies who will be away to Monaghan next weekend.

The visitors led by 1-9 to 1-7 at half-time thanks to an Enda McDermott goal and a succession of points from Kevin Campbell. With the wind behind them in the second period, Roscommon drew level through two Robbie Kelly frees. The sides exchanged points before Campbell edged Donegal back in front, 1-11 to 1-10, with 10 minutes to go.

But Fallon levelled from a free before firing over the winner in injury-time.
