John Heslin hit 1-6 as St Loman's of Mullingar overcame the gutsy challenge of Carlow's Old Leighlin in the Leinster Club SFC at Cusack Park yesterday.

The visitors made the most of wind advantage early on and raced into a 0-4 to 0-0 lead after 11 minutes of play but Heslin hit 1-1 to tie up the scoreboard by the 14th minute.

Old Leighlin regained the lead when the impressive Cathal Coughlan found the back of the St Loman's net in the 19th minute and they led by the narrowest of margins at the break, 1-6 to 1-5.

Couglan put two points between the sides with the first score of the second half and the Carlow champions led by 1-10 to 1-9 with six minutes to go.

A fisted 58th minute point from substitute Jason O'Toole brought St Loman's level and Heslin pointed an injury-time free to see his side progress to a quarter-final meeting against the Dublin champions on Sunday, November 10th.
