Ladies Club Person of the Year goes to husband and wife team

A total of five awards were handed out at the luncheon event in Croke Park with winners announced for each of the four provinces and an overall Club Person of the Year recipient unveiled. The 2012 Club Person of the Year award went to the husband and wife team of Micheal and Kathleen Colreavy of Dublin's Naomh Mearnóg. This is the first time that the award has been shared.
Leinster & All Ireland Club Person of the Year - Michael & Kathleen Colreavy (Naomh Mearnog, DUBLIN)
The Leinster and overall winners, Michael and Kathleen Colreavy are both extremely dedicated and active members of the Portmarnock based club and have been heavily involved in the day to day running of the club for almost 20 years. Michael has been involved as a coach right through the grades from the club's academy right through to the senior ladies team.
Kathleen Colreavy works behind the scenes as the assistant secretary but also as liaison officer with visiting teams including county teams. Her production of the legendary Tupperware box from the boot of her car is one of the most anticipated parts of an evening at the club where she ensures that nobody goes hungry or thirsty and that they have access to all the facilities they need.
Munster Club Person of the Year - Catherine Ring (Knocknagree, CORK)
The TESCO Homegrown Munster Club Person of the Year is Catherine Ring of the Knocknagree Ladies club in Cork. Catherine was of the founding members of the club in 2011. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Cathleen and her follow committee members the club now have teams from Under 8 right through to Under 16 levels. Catherine was instrumental in the compilation of a club scrapbook which earned her club the right to perform at half time in the All Ireland Final in 2012. It has already been a remarkable journey for Catherine and Knocknagree from the clubs beginning's two short years ago to Croke Park.
Ulster Club Person of the Year - Paddy Madine (Teconnaught GFC, DOWN)
The TESCO Homegrown Ulster Club Person of the Year is Paddy Madine of the Teconnaught GFC club in Down. Paddy was a well-respected player in his time before progressing to coaching and managing with the Ladies teams. Paddy's commitment to the club is legendary and there are many examples of self-sacrifice as he constantly puts his teams first. There is a well-known example of Paddy's commitment as he drove from Down to pick up several of his players in the Donegal Gaeltacht for a match before returning them back to the Gaeltacht before returning home himself. He is a truly deserving recipient of today's recognition.
Connacht Club Person of the Year - Yeonette O'Rourke (St Josephs, LEITRIM)
The TESCO Homegrown Connacht Club Person of the Year is Yeonette O'Rourke of St. Joseph's club in Leitrim. Yeonette has been a member of her club's executive since it's foundation in 1998. She has held various offices within the club including Chairperson, Secretary and Club Development Officer as well as training teams in every age group from Under 10 right through to senior grade. Yeonette's dedication to her club is infectious and has spread to her three children who are all playing for the club at adult grades.
Pat Quill, President of the LGFA said "It is quickly becoming a highlight of our year as we get to honour the volunteers in our game who are so vital to the sport. I am delighted that we have four such worthy recipients of the Tesco Homegrown Provincial Club Person of the Year Awards. Their work within their clubs deserves to be highlighted and I hope that their clubs and counties highlight their achievements as an example of what can be achieved through hard work and determination. I am especially happy to see Kathleen and Michael Colreavy receive the Club Person of the Year award. Their work with Naomh Mearnóg is well known and they are instrumental in ensuring that our All Ireland Club 7's and Gaelic4Mothers and Others blitz days, which are held in Naomh Mearnóg, are always a great success."
