November 06, 2011
Tony Cascarino has won this year's Celebrity Bainisteoir All Ireland Final. Tony and Killeshin GAA Club edged out Paul Gogarty and his Oughterard side in a thrilling final in Parnell Park on Friday night.

Thousands of fans attended the game to cheer on both teams in Parnell Park in what was the most exciting final in the history of the show. The closely fought match saw both teams pretty much neck and neck the whole way through with the score a draw at full time 0-12 to 0-12. In the first time in the history of the series the final went into extra time. The nail biting extra 20 minutes saw Tony and his Laois team pull ahead before Paul's Galway side tried to make a late comeback, however it was not to be. The final score was 0-18 to Killeshin to 0-15 to Oughterard.

Both Bainisteoirí had been mentored by GAA legends. Former Dublin football star Ciaran Whelan was mentoring Tony and his Killeshin team while Kerryman Liam Kearns mentored Paul and his Oughterard team. Both the Bainisteoirí and the mentors had been pushing their teams to their limits in the run up to the big game.

Speaking about this win Tony said: I'm absolutely delighted that we won. The team played their hearts out and put in an amazing performance. Throughout the whole series the players and the club put in so much hard work, the win is a great testament to them. As their Bainisteoir, I am so proud of them and thrilled we are bringing the cup back to Laois."

The final marked the end of the fourth series of RTÉ Television's hugely successful Celebrity Bainisteoir series. Previous winners were Derek Burke from Crystal Swing, Derek Davis and Marty Whelan.
