Kerry's Colm Cooper
Colm Cooper's six points from frees in last Sunday's All-Ireland football final saw him finish as the football championship's leading scorer. Despite having a quiet year by his own standards, Gooch's tally against Cork was just enough to see him edge out Donegal's Michael Murphy for top spot. Cooper finished with 1-34, with Murphy just behind on 0-36. Cork's Donncha O'Connor was also in with a chance of topping the charts going into Sunday's final, but only managed 0-3 from frees which left him trailing behind Meath's Cian Ward in fourth place. Top scorers: Colm Cooper (Kerry) 1-34, 0-25 from frees; Michael Murphy (Donegal) 0-36, 0-20 from frees; Cian Ward (Meath) 3-26, 1-24 from frees; Donncha O'Connor (Cork) 3-25, 2-15 from frees; John Doyle (Kildare) 0-27, 0-18 from frees; Bernard Brogan (Dublin) 2-20, 0-8 from frees; Tony Hannon (Wicklow) 1-22, 0-8 from frees; Donie Shine (Roscommon) 0-24, 0-16 from frees; Seanie Furlong (Wicklow) 1-21, 0-13 from frees; Michael Meehan (Galway) 2-17, 1-7 from frees.
