Crossey withdraws

October 05, 2011
John Crossey has ruled himself out of the race to become Antrim senior hurling manager.

The withdrawal of the 2011 minor boss (and former Down manager) means we are now down to a straight two-way contest between outgoing boss Dinny Cahill and Jerry Wallis for the vacant position.

Cork man Wallis was physical trainer with Limerick this year, having worked under Cahill with the Saffrons the previous season. Tipp native Cahill is seeking a third year at the helm.

Crossey has told Antrim officials that he will not be putting himself forward to be grilled by the five-man interview committee, who will hold talks with remaining contender Cahill and Wallis later this week.

The Glensmen hope to ratify their new manager at Monday's County Board meeting.
