Gregan, Ann

December 18, 2004
The Late Ann Gregan The local community of Coolboy was shocked by the news of the sad loss of Ann Gregan, who died in the bosom of her family at home on December 11 after a year long illness. Aged just 55 years, Ann had packed much into her young life as a mother, wife and sister. She immersed herself in the life of her community, especially in the sporting sphere with her brothers. Nee Brennan, Ann played for Carnew Emmets as did her sons in their early underage years and then recently with the newly reformed Coolboy football team. She was a regular supporter of the local handballers and footballers, which was testified to at her funeral by the guards of honour provided by both Coolboy clubs. Anne's home baking and especially her sumptuous sponge cakes were much enjoyed at all the big events in the local handball alley. Her popularity was demonstrated at her funeral by the huge turn out of mourners to grieve at her untimely death. She was a great neighbour, who always had a smile and friendly greeting and word for everyone she met. Her remains were interred at Coolfancy after Requiem Mass in the local St. Mary's Church. Her death is mourned by a wide circle of relatives and friends, and her loss is especially felt by her husband Michael; sons Padraig, James, Michael (Junior) and Killian; daughters Louise and Mary; son-in-law Stephen; also her brothers and sisters; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
