Murphy wary of Lilywhites

Wicklow under-21 manager Seamus Murphy feels that his charges will have to step up a level if they are to defeat Kildare in Saturday's All-Ireland B hurling semi-final at Pearse Park.

The Garden County saw off the challenge of Roscommon last weekend to book their place in the last four, while Kildare received a walkover from Armagh to advance to the semi-final.

Wicklow had to dig deep to grind out the win against the Rossies, and Murphy told the Wicklow People that Kildare will pose an even greater threat at the weekend.

"They'll be a completely different challenge," said Murphy. "Carlow played them in the under-21championship proper and didn't beat them by very much this year. They're that standard.

"Naas are very strong at hurling up there, they're playing in leagues down in Kilkenny and they're winning silverware down there and they will probably backbone this team come Saturday with Jack Sheridan who scored 2-09 against Carlow this year being their strongest player."
