Manager Deccie Byrne concedes that Moorefield will be "a step up" for his Rathnew side.

Having already accounted for Rathvilly of Carlow in the first round, the Garden County standard bearers take on the high-flying Newbridge outfit in the Leinster club championship at Aughrim this weekend.

"You'd have to expect that this will be a step up again, if not two steps up," Byrne notes in The Wicklow People.

"Kildare football is strong and you'd expect the champions to be strong. We're thinking we're in with a shout.

"Obviously Leighton [Glynn] and Nicky [Mernagh] are huge losses to us. When you step up the levels and you lose players of their ability, thats when you really miss them."
