Newtown GAA Weekly Notes

June 17, 2013
This month Newtown PrimarySchool was awarded the Garden County GAA Flag by the Wicklow GAA Games Development Committee. The purpose of the programme is to enhance the link between local primary schools and the local GAA club. A shared understanding and common goals between the club and school can create an environment where the promotion of the GAA in our community can prosper.

In order to achieve this award the school took part in organised coaching sessions, U Can Awards skills tests in all codes and all Cuman na mBunscoil Go Games school blitzes during the year. In addition there is an ongoing Nursery program and a club/school liaison officer. We will continue to build on our achievements to date and to take Gaelic Games forward to best effect in the Primary School setting all the while following the give respect get respect program

Thanks to all the school staff and external coaches for helping us to achieve this prestigious award.

The club extends its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the late Michael Killeen and also to the family and friends of the late Ellen Coster (nee Ellis). May they rest in peace
