The Club wishes to express its full support and help to Rathnew AFC at this sad time. The Community Of Rathnew is proud of its sporting heritage in all codes and indeed many varied sports. Many players are members of the two clubs and we always encourage young people to get involved in all sports. We hope to see Rathnew AFC recover from this tragedy and provide a sporting outlet to all our young folk both in Rathnew and the wider area as quickly as possible. We hope that the various groups who use the facilities are not caused too much inconvience. We look forward to seeing Rathnew AFC back better than ever!
Special word of congratulatons to Alvin Mitchell son of Pat who shot a marvellous hole in 1 in Wicklow Golf Club last Sunday. Alvin is is a member of the Senior Management team and is highly thought of in golfing circles.
Senior Team: Div1 league . Rathnew 4-15 Bray 2-4, halftime Rathnew 1-4 Bray 2-4.
After a poor 1st half our lads woke up and put in a fine display in the second half. Adam Merriman,Enan Gylnn and Theo Smyth had fine games. Scorers T.Gill 1-4,M.Doyle 2-3, P.Murphy 1-1, J.Byrne 0-2,E.Doyle 0-2, R.O'Brien 0-1,J.Merrican 0-1 and A.Merriman 0-1.
Intermediate Team: Div3 league Blessington 2-10 Rathnew 2-9. A great display by the lads played in stifling heat a few subs would have been welcomed! Some fellas had other things on their minds.
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs Paul White who were married in Rathnew last week.
Get well message to Mrs Christine Merrigan after her recent operation and to Drew Jameson in Liverpool .
Best of luck to Harry Murphy and the rest of the Rathnew boys and indeed the whole County team as they take on the Mighty Meath men in Aughrim next Sunday.
