Geoffrey Bermingham interrupted a family celebration to star for Wicklow at the weekend.

The Garden County's Christy Ring Cup clash with Kerry was on the same day as Geoffrey's daughter Sophie's first holy communion.

So the wing back left the church in Kiltegan after the ceremony, with his family in tow, and they travelled to Arklow for the match, which Wicklow won against the competition holders.
