Great to see the days getting longer after the darkness of Winter - Camogie action is getting underway.... Indoor Camogie continues in Colaiste Chraobh Abhann on March 6, 13. 20 and 27. On Tuesday February 28 CCA is closed as final preparations are underway for the School show 'The Wiz' opening the following day in Bray's Mermaid Theatre - the months of rehearsal and hard work are now over - best wishes to everybody involved with the Show. Good timing for all camogie players involved!
Training continues for the Adult/U18/U16 players in Charlesland on Tuesdays at 6.45pm as well as next Saturday afternoon February 25th at 2.00pm.
The first team into competitive action is our Under 13s who play Setanta in Ballymun on Sunday February 26th - meet at the Church at 8.45am. The match starts at 10 am.
The opening game of the Wicklow Senior League follows on March 3rd with the first game in Dublin's Junior League on Sunday March 4th.
The Under 11s have their first Blitz in Naomh Padraig, Palmerstown on Sunday March 4th at 12 noon.
Wicklow County Camogie Board is running a Referees Course on Friday March 9th in Aughrim - this is aimed at new referees as well as those already refereeing. Interested? - please contact Tracy. On the Fundraising front, on Friday and Saturday March 9th and 10th we have a Bag Pack in Dunnes Stores in Newtown. Our thanks to Dunnes Stores for this opportunity and in advance to all who volunteer to Pack - over 14s only. These events as very important in allowing us keep our membership fees at a reasonable rate and keep Camogie within the reach of anybody who wishes to play or get involved in any way. Your support is very much appreciated. Please also remember the Date for our Golf Classic - Friday May 18th promising a great day's Golf in Kilcoole Golf Club.
As we put plans together for the outdoor season, we ask all parents who may be in a position to get involved with Club organisation to please make contact. All help is vital to the running of the Club. Previous experience is not necessary as the Camogie Association provides a great training and support system for Coaches and administrators.
Congratulations to Tracy McCabe and Eugene Condon who have attained the Level 1 Camogie Coaching qualification over the Winter months - Well Done!
The Wicklow County team gets the ball rolling in the competitive world with their opening game in the National League taking place on Sunday February 26th. The venue is the County grounds in Arklow and start time is 2.30pm. Dublin provides the opposition in what will be a tough opening assignmen - why not go along?
