Widespread sadness at Maura's passing

There was widespread sadness in Knockananna and surrounding areas at the passing of Maura Whelan at Drogheda Memorial Hospice, The Curragh.
Maura passed away following a short illness on October 6.
She was the eldest daughter of the late Denis and Elizabeth Keogh of Coolballing-taggart.
Maura had a great love for animals and nature.
She was involved in many aspects of community life and was widely respected in the area. Maura has a great love of GAA from juvenile to county but especially the local club where she was deeply involved in fundraising by selling lotto tickets or helping out at other events.
Maura had great passion for doing crosswords and anyone could get a phone call to help out with a tricky answer.
The Whelan Family is deeply indebted to the doctors and nurses of Naas General Hospital for the care and attention they afforded Maura while she was a patient there.
The large crowd who attended the removal and funeral are testament to the impact that Maura made on the lives of all she came into contact with.
She is survived by her heartbroken husband Tom, sons David and Paul, daughters-in-law Martina and Noeleen, six grandchildren, brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, her many friends and neighbours, all of whom share the loss with the family.
Requiem mass was celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Knockananna by Fr. J. McCormick PP. Maura's remains were interred in the adjoining graveyards.
