Bergin, Tony

The Late Tony Bergin.

The passing away of Anthony (Tony) Bergin from Arklow after a short illness was a very sad day for all his family and friends.
Tony, from 57 Fr. Redmond Park, was 74 years of age. He was a man who lived for and loved all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was described as the heartbeat of the house hold.
A Laois man originally, Tony moved to Co. Wexford as a young man where he settled in well and showed a keen interest in football and hurling.
His skills enabled him to become a regular left back with Faythe Harriers with which he won both hurling and football medals at Senior County level.
Later on Tony retired from sport and relocated to Arklow, a town where he made many friends and enjoyed a happy life.
Tony was loved by all his eight children and gave them something very special, namely his gentleness, kindness.
He was always there when they needed him and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a well known face to many as he walked is dog Guss on the Wexford Road daily. He always popped into Pettitt's every morning for his shopping where he received a warm welcome from the staff who knew him as a regular.
Tony was laid to rest in St. Gabriel's Cemetery recently following funeral mass at St. Mary's and Peter's Church, Arklow.
He is sadly and dearly missed by his children Pauline, Tony, Suzanne, Mark, David, Jennifer, Elaine and Michael and their partners, grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, extended family and a wide circle of friends.

May he rest in peace.
