County final on Sunday week

September 26, 2008
Arrangements are firmly in place for the Wicklow senior football championship final between St. Patrick's and Kiltegan in the third ever such meeting between the sides with two former pupils of Gail Dunne, Casey O'Brien and Gavin Wynne taking the management responsibility. Dunne managed the Wicklow Town side in 2006 in the victory of that year. There is plenty of blue and white colour to be seen in Wicklow town with the team being quoted as 4/6 favourites to take the Miley Cup. Kiltegan too is a kaleidoscope with four colours prominent in the village. The green and gold represent the colours of the old Rathdangan club proudly carried to victory in the county championship finals of 1930 and 1936. St. Tegan's the official name of the club contesting the final is a combination of the two villages, Kiltegan and Rahdangan. In 1964 the Kiltegan club was founded by Brian Graham and Peter Whelan adopting the red and white colours.
