West Wicklow mourns Eugene Doyle
September 26, 2008
There was sadness throughout West Wicklow on the passing of Eugene Doyle who had lived in Grangebeg Dunlavin for many years, a member of the auctioneering firm of J P & M Doyle.
Eugene and his brothers began life in Ballymoney and he was the youngest of a family of eight brothers. Each of them would have been members of the Donard GAA club in their youth. His brother Ned is still alive and living at Punchestown Upper near Eadestown, a man who captained the Donard side to the last of their six Senior Football Championships in 1957.
He died on Wednesday week in Naas Hospital and is survived by his wife Maura and by his children John, Bill, Máire, Myles and Peter. The couple lost a child, Eugene in infancy. His daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, brother Ned, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces also survive him.
