Blessington and Bray through to minor final
September 26, 2008
The county final of the John Wall Minor Football Championship takes place on Sunday week in Aughrim on the same bill as the senior football county final and thanks to impressive wins on Sunday last Blessington and Bray Emmets have booked their passage.
While St. Patrick's were well in the game against Bray in the first half of their semi-final encounter, the Wicklow town team faded greatly after the interval while playing with the wind to lose on a score-line of 0-5 to 2-10. The game provided a platform for Paul Cunningham to display his capabilities. Pat's were somewhat absent for the second half and only contributed one point in that period on 38 minutes and failed to score after that.
Luke O'Tooles complained that their game against Blessinton should have been put back because of the involvement of many of their players in the intermediate championship on Saturday evening but to no avail. Blessington turned in a 3-9 to 2-4 performance with Dean Siney displaying his talent to great effect.
