Intermediate title race wide open

September 19, 2008
There is a fascinating prospect of any of four teams - Aughrim, Eire Og, Dunlavin or Kilbride getting through to meet Annacurra in the semi-final of the D'Arcy Sand Intermediate Football Championship, and the answer should be known on Friday evening. Carnew Emmets play Kilbride in Baltinglass this evening (19.30) while over in Roundwood at the same time Aughrim take on Dunlavin. The remaining game takes place at 19.30 also in Newtown involving Eire Og and Kilcoole. Should Dunlavin account for Aughrim or even draw they seem set to advance. However should Dunlavin fail then the other teams are in the frame for consideration. A win for the Greystones side against Kilcoole with a good score could see them through. If the way is left open for Aughrim, they must win and win well in order to stay ahead of both Eire Og and Kilbride. Kilbride who have had a relatively poor campaign are not out of the equation either and of course must win and win well and all else will depend on action elsewhere.
