Ballymanus Notes
September 15, 2008
The intermediates booked their place in the championship semi's against Carnew, when they defeated Avondale in Arklow last weekend. The lads put in a blistering opening half display, racing into a six points to no score lead after the opening quarter. We were reduced to 14 midway through the first half but still went in at the break leading 8pts to 3. We started the second half well and tacked on two quick scores. Although we failed to increase our lead we did manage to hold Avondale at bay. With legs tiring, Avondale put on huge pressure in the last quarter, reducing our lead point by point. But for a great save by Brendan late in the game we could easily have been beaten, but there was huge relief when the final whistle blew and we had emerged victors on a scoreline of 12 pts to 10. Congratulations to our ladies on the AGB team also (Caitriona, Aisling & Aine), who, after their great championship victory last weekend capped off another great performance with a win in the opening round of the Leinster championship against the Westmeath champions. They now face the Carlow champions, who have yet to be decided. Best of luck to Caoimhe and Deirdre who play in the Junior B championship final this Saturday against Kilcoole. There was no lotto jackpot winner in the last two weeks. Joanne Stapleton and Tom Keogh were match three winners for the draw held Sept 1st, with the winning numbers being 3,5,17,19. For the draw held 8th Sept, the winning numbers were 10,13,22,23, with Ann Keogh the solitary match three winner.
