Semi-final day in Aughrim

September 12, 2008
The Wicklow senior football championship has now entered the penultimate stage with semi-final action taking place this Sunday in Aughrim when the four teams still in contention vie for the right to grace county final day. Rathnew face Kiltegan at 14.00, a game that Eddie Craul takes charge of while Kieran Kenny (Tinahely) is in charge of the St. Patrick's versus Bray Emmet's game. Kiltegan had had a relatively comfortable passage through the group stages of the competition but were pushed all the way by last year's Intermediate champions Stratford in the quarterfinal. Rathnew relied on a good finish to overcome a competitive Newton in their respective clash. An interesting game is in prospect in the opening game with much expected of the likes of Jacko Dalton, Seanie Furlong and Adrian Foley for the West side and Rathnew willl have an array of county players trying to win yet another county title including Damian Power, Leighton Glynn and James Stafford.
