Kilcoole Camogie News

September 08, 2008
Our U16s got a walk-over from Kiltegan in the Shield and will now play Glenealy in the semi-final. The U14s also got a walk-over from Annacurra in the League. Our U12s lost out to Glenealy in the semi-final of the U12B Championship. We wish Glenealy the best in the Final. Our Intermediate Shield Final did not materialise either on Saturday because of a water-logged pitch. Our u14s and U12s have returned from a memorable week-end in Monaghan as guests of the County Board there. It was a packed few days which saw us on the pitches of Monaghan GAA's Centre of Excellence from 10am til 6pm on Saturday for intensive coaching sessions and blitz games with the Monaghan and Cavan County U14 squads. We spent the evening in the Leisure Centre in Castleblaney. It was back to the pitch on Sunday morning for a Match v. Monaghan where our players acquitted themselves more than adequately in the Mediterranean sunshine!  Hospitality was provided by the Monaghan parents who left nothing undone to ensure that we all had a most enjoyable and educational experience. No words could express our appreciation to everybody in Monaghan who played a part in organising this trip. Thanks also to the people who worked so hard to put this together at short notice at our end. Well done to all the players who travelled. They represented us very well and had a great time! We now look forward to hosting the return visit from our Monaghan colleagues in a few weeks. This week our U14s are due to play Knockananna in the League, the U16s play Glenealy in the Shield and the U12s may have a back match on Friday. We await news of the re-fixed Intermediate Shield Final. On Sunday next, September 14th, we are off to Croke Park for our Annual trip to the All-Ireland Camogie Final. This year sees Galway take on Cork for the O'Duffy Cup and it will be preceded by the All-Ireland U21 Hurling Final when Kilkenny will aim for a clean sweep of 4 All-Ireland Hurling titles and Tipperary will try to stop them! Our bus leaves from the Church at noon. Prices are Juveniles: members 20 Euros, non-members 25 Euros, Adults: members 40 and non-members 45 Euros which includes bus fare and Admission to the games. Contact Tracy 0877518680 or Breda 0876998536 - FAST- with your money to reserve a place and remember to wear your colours, whatever they may be!! News of the Indoor Winter season will soon be on the way. If anybody is interested in helping and/or doing a Coaching or Child Protection Course during the Winter months, please make contact.
