Newly crowned Wicklow champions St Patrick’s won’t have much time to celebrate their success earlier today as they are down to face Rhode in the Leinster club SFC tomorrow afternoon.
Pat’s secured a come from behind 0-10 to 0-8 victory over holders Rathnew in this afternoon's replayed final at Joule Park to claim their first county title in six years and are set to return to the Aughrim venue against the Offaly champions tomorrow (throw-in 1.30pm).
Following last weekend’s drawn final, a congested fixture list in Leinster Council means that the Saints will have less than a 24-hour turnaround against the beaten provincial finalists of 2016.
Last year saw Rathnew pull off a huge shock in Leinster when they defeated Dublin giants St Vincent’sy four points and a win for the new Garden County champions tomorrow would certainly be right up there with it given the circumstances.
TweetThe Wicklow County Final has yet to throw in and by this time tomorrow one of the teams will have already played in the opening round of the Leinster Championship against Rhode. These Fixtures are some joke!
