The Camogie Association have launched a search for the County Player of the Decade as part of their 110th celebrations.

The County Player of the Decade will be honoured at the Liberty Insurance All Ireland Finals on September 14th in Croke Park. The County Player of the Decade refers to players from the period 2005 to 2014. The Centenary celebrations of 2004 provided for recognition of players from earlier eras.
Counties are encouraged to nominate players based on a criterion, which rewards sportsmanship, playing excellence at county level, longevity of playing career and their dedication and commitment over their career.

Speaking about the County Player of the Decade, President of the Camogie Association Aileen Lawlor said:
"The County Player of the Decade is a fantastic opportunity to reward players from the last ten years, who have made an outstanding contribution to camogie, representing their club and county. It will bring together players from all over Ireland and it celebrates the fantastic achievements of our past players. It is fitting that this takes place on All Ireland Finals day as we celebrate the achievements of our contemporary and past players.

I encourage all counties and clubs to embrace this initiative and to also take the opportunity to honour their players at county level. This year is a very special one for the Association and it is important that we acknowledge and celebrate that."
