Two promising Wexford footballers will look to catch the eye Down Under this month when they take part in AFL trials.

Barry O’Connor of the St Martin’s club and Crossabeg-Ballymurn’s Ronan Devereux were both involved in AFL trials at UCD at the end of last year and will look to try and secure professional contracts by impressing in Australia in the coming weeks.

The Wexford People newspaper reports that O’Connor, who was part of the Model men’s squad during the Allianz Football League, is set to trial exclusively with Sydney Swans while Devereux will be involved in a two-week international combine.

Other Irish contingent to partake in the combine include Peadar Mogan (Donegal), Ross McQuillan (Armagh) and Luke Towey (Sligo).
