Club Championships - Football 2019

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Was at both senior games over the weekend and standard was very poor so many mistakes made by all 4 teams.
The downs moved the ball well up the field in the 1st half and Luke Loughlin was on fire however everything went through him if Lomans can contain him they will win easy.
Shamrocks looked very poor had to put Kieran Gavin on with 15 mins to go and if it wasn't for him Shamrocks would be out of the championship he scored two goals and set up one. Shamrocks have very little up front they are missing is a forward who can score. Still very hard to call garrycastle/shamrocks I just hope both semi finals have abit more quality in them.

I agree with temple. Shamrocks have excellent defenders and midfield but upfront firepower is lacking. They might have unearthed a good target man in Kieran Gavin. Big decisions will have to be made before semi final if they want to get into another county final

Tang gave Bun a good beating at the weekend. Looks like they are still the team to stop in intermediate

When did tang last get to a intermediate final. Not in last 15 years. Always get knockout at semi final stage

Moate and Multy Replay tonight . The drawn game was exciting. Winners Play Mtpass.
Tang look strong and the semi between them and Caulry should be tight.
I call a Mtpass Caulry Final.

Going with a Tang v Moate final with Tang finally getting over the line.

Big week ahead for 8 clubs.
Predictions:
Senior
Lomans vs the downs = easy win Lomans by 6
Garrycastle vs Shamrocks = game of the weekend Mullingar have been the best team over the last 18 months and have only lost two games in the championship in that time and both of them have been against Garrycastle. I will go for a Draw in this one.
Intermediate
Tang vs Caulry = Tang embarrassed Caulry in the group stage but I feel this one will be a lot closer but I still think Tang will come out on top
Milltownpass vs Moate = Milltownpass to win this one by 3

The adult ones are usually on the Westmeath Gaa Twitter. For the men at least. The women's senior final is Saturday at 2pm in Kinnegad. I don't know where they post the underage.

The 5 week break has to be a problem for the semi finalists . I can see
Tang
Moate
Shamrocks
Lomans
Lomans being the only team capable of handling the break

I think Garrycastle will beat Shamrocks on Saturday & The Downs have a massive chance to beat Lomans on Sunday.
Intermediate final will be Tang & Milltownpass.
Junior final will be Balinacarrigy v CFCW

I would say The Downs have an absolutely tiny chance of beating Lomans. I just can't see how they can hope to keep the score down, when you look at how much they've been conceding in their games. I can see Lomans scoring at least 3 goals. The other semi is much harder to call. Shamrocks have a poor record against Garrycastle. But the 5 week layoff won't help Garrycastle - especially coming off the back of a brutal performance in their last group game. They won't be as bad again though, and might just have enough.
