Parsons wary of Lake men

Returning Mayo midfielder says they cannot afford a dip in form against Westmeath in Saturday's Round 4B qualifier at Croke Park.

In the past two weeks, Stephen Rochford's side have bounced back from their Connacht final defeat with wins over Fermanagh and Kildare - games which Parsons has missed due to a hamstring injury - and the Charlestown feels the two teams' current league status will count for nothing this weekend.

"Your Division One status does not guarantee you a win over any team," Parsons told the Irish Examiner.

"We've seen that with Galway who finished mid-table in Division Two and beat us convincingly and equally went on to beat another Division One team in Roscommon.

"So, we say time and time again that as a group, if we drop our performance levels, any team in the country is capable of beating us."

Throw-in at Croke Park on Saturday is at 6pm.
