St Pauls Clonmellon notes

July 26, 2016

Junior Championship

Well done to the lads who recorded a 9 point victory against local rivals Delvin and all but guaranteeing them a quarter final spot . St. Pauls were slow to get going and went in at half time 2 points down but they threw off the shackles in the 2nd half and out-scored their opponents 2-07 to 0-2 after the break leaving the final score reading St. Pauls 2-14 Delvin 1-8. Next up it's a clash with table toppers Castletown-Finea scheduled for Aug. 8th.

The St. Pauls team that togged out against Delvin was as follows: Ollie Mulvaney, Ross Daly, Jimmy McQuaid, Barry Davis, Kenny Higgins, John Fitzpatrick, Paddy Reilly, Philip Gilsenan, Conor Rice, Conor Slater, Ronan Kiernan (Darren Dugdale 10mins), David Whelahan, Jamie Fitzsimons, Conor Shaw, Johnny McGuinness.

Juvenile Details

Our Summer Camp is up and running every Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 10am-12noon for the months of July and August and the charge is 2 euro per child per day or 5 euro for a family of 3 or more. Open to boys and girls of all abilities from ages 4 upwards and proceeds from the Summer Camp will be put towards buying a Deliberator machine for the club - a great investment so please support.

The "Little Pauls" nursery runs every Saturday morning at 10am at the club grounds where the "stars of tomorrow" are taught the skills of our game in a fun filled and safe environment and is open to boys and girls ages 4 to 6. New players, as always are welcome, just show up on the day. We are also looking to get more parents involved in our nursery on Saturday mornings. If you are interested in helping out please contact any member of the committee or just show up next Saturday morning.

Training for our U-8 footballers continues this Tuesday evening at 7pm. We are also hosting an U-8 blitz this coming Saturday at 11am.

Our U-10 footballers travelled to Castletown-Finea last week to take part in a blitz and it was a worthwhile trip as the lads won both of their 2 games beating Inny Shamrocks and Ballycomoyle. U-10 training continues Tuesdayevening at 7pm.  U-12 football training Monday evening next at 7pm (venue to be confirmed). Well done to the St. Ernans U-14 footballers who came away with a share of the spoils when they drew with Multyfarnham in their Championship clash on Sunday last. Training continues for the lads this Tuesday evening at 7pm (venue to be confirmed). Second round of championship this coming Thursday vs Ballycomoyle in Ballycomoyle at 7.30pm.

Best of luck.

The club would like to wish the Westmeath football team the very best of luck in their qualifier clash with Mayo next weekend. We would also like to say best of luck to the Brownstown Hurlers in their Championship clash with Clonkill next weekend. Also, best of luck to the St. Pauls/Delvin ladies football team in their Championship clash next weekend.
