May 30, 2016

At the presentation of The Anthony Geraghty Memorial Cup were Tom Gilsenan (Kilskyre Chairman), Paddy Dowdall Clonkill captain, Donie and Michael Geraghty.

Westmeath senior hurling championship winners, Clonkill, retained the Kilskyre Hurling 7's competition last Saturday.

Seven clubs Kilskyre, Trim, Dunderry, Gaeil Colmcille (all Meath), Cullion, Brownstown and Clonkill (all Westmeath) took part in the second running of this very successful competition.

The winners took home the Anthony Geraghty Memorial Cup.

Anthony won senior hurling and intermediate football championships with Westmeath club Brownstown and sister club St Paul's before moving on to Kilskyre. There he enjoyed further success, winning a JHC medal in 1992 when the black and ambers defeated Trim in the final.

As in last years final it was an all Westmeath affair. Clonkill accounted for Brownstown 8-2. The winners defeated Trim in their semi final while Brownstown accounted for Cullion.

After the final Tom Gilsenan (Kilskyre Chairman) along with Donie and Michael Geraghty presented the Anthony Geraghty Memorial Cup to Clonkill captain Paddy Dowdall.
