Tang v St Marys Rochfortbridge

Tang took on St Marys last Sunday evening in Moate in the final game of the Championship group stages. In a game played in miserable conditions scores were hard to come by in the first half and both teams struggled to break each other down.

Aidan Burke opened the scoring with a well taken free but St Marys responded with a well taken point. St Marys scored a 45 before Niall Neary responded with a long distance effort. St Marys tagged on two more 45's to leave the half time score reading four points to two.

Tang had the aid of the breeze in the second half and started brightly with Aidan Burke kicking a free. St Marys however got two points of their own. Tang were then caught with a quick counter attack and St Marys finished to the roof of the net to leave six points between the sides. Although Tang pushed forward looking to respond St Marys tagged on two points to all but seal the game. Tang managed to get some control in the last ten minutes and got points through Aidan Burke, Niall Neary and Colm Donoghue. However, Tang couldn't find the goal they desperately needed and when the referee blew the final whistle the final score read 1-9 to 0-8 in favour of St Marys.
