August 24, 2015

Senior Championship
St Lomans Mullingar 0.11 Garrycastle 0.03
St Lomans progressed to the quarter final of the championship after defeating Garrycastle in the final round of the group stage on Sunday evening last. The game was played under atrocious weather conditions in Cusack Park and it resulted with scores very hard to come by.
Shane Dempsey got St Lomans off the mark with two points, one with the outside of his boot and the other set up by a Kelvin Reilly pass. Conor Cosgrove pointed for Garrycastle after eight minutes to reduce the margin. St Lomans looked the better team from the early stages and extended their advantage with points from Garrett Hickey (free) and a wonderful David Whelan effort from beyond the 45m line. Paul Sharry and Kieran Lynam added points before the break after a Dessie Dolan converted free to leave the blues four points up at half time.
St Lomans dominated the second half and the blues defence put in an impressive display holding Garrycastle to just a point from Gary Mc Callan. Paul Sharry, Shane Dempsey(2), Kelvin Reilly and substitute Cathal Burke all raised the white flag in a solid second half performance that saw St Lomans finish comfortable winners.

Minor Championship
St Lomans Mullingar 4.12 Shannon Gaels 3.09
St Lomans minors got their championship campaign off to a winning start against a physically strong Shannon Gaels team on Tuesday evening last.
Shannon Gaels got off to the perfect start and registered a goal and a point without reply.  St Lomans responded in perfect fashion and with two kicked points. Centre back Eoghan O Keeffe made a great run through the opposition defence and he sent a shot to the net to give the blues the lead. The visitors responded with scores of their own but goals from Chris Gilbert and James Cox left the blues five points in front at the break.
The Gaels battled hard in the second half and came back within three points of St Lomans. Both teams exchanged scores throughout the second half with James Cox on target from placed balls. Chris Gilbert got his second goal of the game to seal the win for St Lomans.

U10 Boys
St Lomans U10's were delighted to take up an invite from Celbridge GAA to take part in their thirty two team all Ireland tournament on Saturday last!

First up in their group of four was An Riocht from Co. Down. Great displays from Adam Brady and Daniel Connaughton helped Les Bleus to a convincing win (revenge for last year's defeat). Next up were Round Towers of Dublin in the best match of the group. Points from Shane Mulderry and David Geoghegan helped our boys to a one point win. Finally they played Austin Stacks from Kerry. Hard to believe against the Gooch's home club but great displays from Byron Graham and Jamie Ronan meant the boys won easily and progressed as group winners. Next up were Coralstown Kinnegad who proved too strong as our boys started to tire.

The boys can be very proud of their determination, skill and good behaviour on the day.

Lotto
There was no jackpot winner from the lotto draw on August 19th. The numbers drawn were 5,8,12,24. Winners of €50 each were Eamon Clinton, K Brown, Joanne Furlong and Eamon Clinton. Next week's Jackpot will be €2,100.
