Westmeath jersey row continues

Westmeath minor hurling manager Johnny Greville

Westmeath minor manager Johnny Greville has continued his war of words with the county board.

Greville was incensed to be informed that the county's minor hurlers had been withdrawn from the All-Ireland 'B' championship as they had no jerseys to play in!

The county board released a statement denying this fact and stated that the minors were never entered into the 'B' championship in the first place, adding that Greville had been informed of this decision.

However, the Raharney clubman released a statement last night strenuously denying that he had any knowledge of that decision being made.

The row is allegedly borne out of the fact that following the Leinster MHC semi-final defeat to Dublin, the Westmeath players either kept or swapped their jerseys, a situation that the county board found 'unacceptable.'
