Division 3 v St. Loman's

We chalked up our fourth - and most impressive - win in Division 3 of the All-County League against St. Loman's in Lakepoint Park last Saturday evening.

David Fennell scored a hat-trick of goals in an emphatic 4-17 to 1-7 victory. The hosts struck for an early goal, but we recovered strongly and only registered four wides in what was our best performance of the year to date.

A notable absentee from the team was the long-serving Keith Gorry who will undergo knee surgery next week. Hope to see you back playing soon, Keith!

Team: Brendan McMahon; Paul Maloney, Alan Fennell, Ciaran Egan; Mel Kiernan, Nigel Scally, Shaun Pidgeon; Paddy Barry, Dean Fitzgerald; James Brennan, Kevin Smith, James Finnegan; Paul Fennell, Simon O'Neill, David Fennell. Subs used: Sean Hanlon, Fergal Fox, James Claffey, Mark Geoghegan and Tommy Barrett.

Ladies v Tyrrellspass

Our ladies footballers made it two wins from two in the senior championship when they edged out Tyrrellspass by 1-10 to 1-8 at St. James' Park last Wednesday evening. With Susan Kiernan returning from Australia this week, hopes are high that the team can reach the semi-finals with one group match remaining against Garrycastle.

Paul Daly

Congratulations to club vice-chairman Paul Daly on his election as chairman of Westmeath County Council last week.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to the Finnegan family on the death of Kathleen, Bridge Street, last Tuesday. May she rest in peace.

Leinster final

It will be a case of "last one out turn off the lights" next Sunday when Westmeath appear in only their fourth Leinster SFC final against Dublin at Croke Park. We wish Tom Cribbin and his players the best of luck in their quest to bring the Delaney Cup back to the midlands.

C'mon Westmeath!
