Multyfarnham GAA Notes

April 13, 2015

ACFL Division 4

Multyfarnham 1-9
Tubberclair 1-3

Referee: Alfie Devine
Venue: Multyfarnham Community Park

The Juniors had two run outs at the weekend in division four and seven. Both games were successful. Tubberclair were first up on Friday evening in Multy. There was a lot of rain last week and the pitch had held a lot of water but most of this had subsided by the time the game came around. A new look team lined out, from the last game, and proceeded to set about there business in a professional manner. The game took a while to get going but eventually it sprang into life. Multy clipped over a few points only for Tubberclair to come back into it with a goal. Multy wasted a few goal chances in the first which would have finished the game as a contest however Emmet Feerick did find the net after a rebounded shot had bounced around the Tubberclair square. Danny Loughrey and Noel Kiernan were impressive while Anthony McGivney was tigerish with the way he chased down runners and set up attacks. Emmet Feerick had a good with a good personal tally of 1-4 while Mark Reynolds grabbed a point made easy by the good inter play with himself, McGivney and Kim Williams. The game finished 1-9 to 1-3 in favour of Multyfarnham.

ACFL Division 7

Multyfarnham 2-15
Ballinagore 1-12

Referee: Mick Murtagh
Venue: Multyfarnham Community Park

The division seven team were again at home against Ballinagore on Sunday, which was a reverse of the previous division four match of the past week. It was a beautiful morning for football in Multy and both sides managed to serve up a decent, entertaining game. Ballinagore ran hard at the Multy backs all day and Paul Moran, Leo Blake, Paul Smith, Jimmy Keary, Ciaran Madden and Danny Newman had their hands full from early on. Jason Tighe and Ian McGovern had to really work hard in midfield to get to grips with their opponents. But once again the Multy forward line really shone through. Mark Fallon and Keith Reid led the charge picking up 0-3 and 2-2 respectively in a masterclass attacking display with the pair inter-passing and drawing in the other forwards around them to really look like a dangerous attacking unit. Danny Loughrey rarely put a foot wrong and also made a contribution to leave the final score 2-15 to 1-12 to Multyfarnham.
