Shandonagh club notes

April 13, 2015

UNDER 6

OUR under 6 group had a lively training session last Saturday. The head coach reported that the boys and girls are improving by the week and that the trainers are already looking forward to next Saturday morning at 10.30am in the club house.

UNDER 8 BLITZ

On Saturday next (18th April ) we host an Under 8's Blitz in Shandonagh. Visiting teams include Mullingar Shamrocks, Multyfarnham and St.Lomans. All under 8's are requested to be at the club at 10.30am with boots, gumshields, socks and shorts.

UNDER 10 BOYS TRAINING

UNDER 10 training commences at 9.30am on Saturday 18th of April. All players please note the change of starting time and notify other players of this change.  Coaching will last for 1 hour. Any one who isn't getting the texts, please get in touch with Niall on 086 813 3543.

UNDER 12 GIRLS

Our under 12 girls travelled to St lomans for a challenge match on Saturday morning last. It proved to be a worthwhile but stiff challenge for the girls.

We played well in the first half but dug deep in the second half and played some excellent attacking football to come away with a narrow victory.

LEAVING CERTIFICATE ORAL IRISH ASSISTANCE

This is the final call to register for anyone interested in preparing for their oral Irish examinations. Please register through the website to ensure we keep a spot available for you.
The session will take place on the evening of Sunday 19th April when a number of Irish teachers in the area will hold a session in conversational gaeilge in the clubhouse from 7.00pm until 8.00pm in preparation for the Irish orals which will take place the following week. Club members are free of charge and non club members will be charged a nominal fee of €5.00. The proceeds go to club funds.

LADIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE

On Sunday last our ladies took on Kinnegad /Coralstown in a top of the league tussle. The ladies in red hit the rain sodden ground running however,  and went in ahead at half time ahead on a scoreline of 2-1 to 1-6.

Try as our ladies would in the second half, they could not close the gap and unfortunately from our point of view the full time score read 2-10 to 2-7.

Training continues on Wednesday night at 7.00pm.

Our first Championship match takes place next Friday night at 7.30pm in Athlone against Athlone.  All support welcome. This promises to be a cracker of a game if last year's games are anything to go by. For those of you who can't remember, we eventually nicked a win after extra time in the second game.

COFFEE MORNING

We will host a Coffee Morning on Thursday, the 16th of April from 10.30am to 12.30pm in Caffreys bar and Lounge, Mount Street. Bakers of all levels are wanted and their contributions will be gratefully received. Please come along, meet the neighbours and support our club.

CONDOLENCES

The club would like to extend sincere sympathies to the Scully family on the recent passing of Jerry Scully Sr., Galway. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
