SHANDONAGH UNDER 16'S CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL

Shandonagh U16's scored a comprehensive victory in their championship semi final win over Millmore Gaels on Sunday morning last in Ballinacarrigy. The game was played in poor conditions with wind and rain making attractive football very difficult to deliver, however a superb team effort saw the lads emerge victorious on a score line of 4-10 to 0-5 on the day.

The first half was a tense affair and scores were at a premium, the greater possession secured by the Shandonagh lads playing with a strong wind allowed them to open up a good lead after 10 minutes 1-2 to 0-1. Millmore kept in touch through a few well taken frees before a second goal and excellent long range points saw Shandonagh lead at half time by 2-5 to 0-4.

The Shandonagh team emerged to better conditions in the second half and playing against the wind, dominated possession in the early exchanges and were rewarded with a well taken goal following an excellent patient team move. This gave the lads increased confidence and they pushed on to score another 2-4 against the wind to run out comprehensive winners to set up a final against a strong Rosemount team. Thanks to all the squad and supporters for the efforts made to get this far, please monitor texts for the final preparations.

MINOR FINAL PREPARATIONS

Minor training continues on this Wednesday and Friday evenings at 8pm sharp. All players are to attend. These will be the last two sessions before the county final. We have arranged lifts back to college for all of our 3rd level panel members. Please make the effort to attend.

We wish our minor boys every success on Sunday next and hope that they can bring home the silverware. They will however need the support of everybody in the community, so come along to Cusack Park on Sunday next at 1.00pm to show your support for the boys in blue. This is the first time in the history of the club that we will have participated in the games on the premier Sunday for club football in the County. They face stiff opposition from a well drilled and strongly fancied Downs side.

GET WELL SOON

We extend speedy convalescence wishes to great clubmen, Martin Maher and Shane Kenny who are recovering from procedures this week. We hope to see you both pitch-side soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pat and Marion Allard as they go through this difficult time.

CONGRATULATIONS

Well done to Kevin Duffy and Linda Duignan on their recent engagement announcement.  May you both have long and happy lives together.

LOTTO RESULTS
