U12 Football, Jim McHugh Memorial Tournament
St. Malachy's/Ballinagore 7-10  St. Mary's, Rochfortbridge 5-14
Our U12 footballers recorded a narrow two point victory over a gallant St. Mary's side in the plate semi-final last Saturday in Garrycastle. Played in a fine sporting manner throughout and with a strong wind behind us in the first half, we dominated play to lead well at half time by 6-04 to 2-05. Well taken goals by Warric Kirby, Killian Bolger and Peter Reynolds were just reward as we were working hard all over the field. We knew our opponents would throw the kitchen sink at us in the second half and this they did. An early Conor Murphy goal extended our lead but St. Mary's got on top for a long period and scored some fine scores. Brave defending especially by the two Marks in our full back line and Peter Dalton in goals kept our lead safe. Two late goals left us reeling and clinging onto a one point lead but we broke upfield and earned a free which Darragh Seery chipped over to secure the win. We now play Millmore Gaels in the final next week. Having played them twice so far this year with one victory each, it has the makings of another exciting game. Well done lads. Team: Peter Dalton, Mark Kiernan, Mark Killian, Tiernan McMahon, Cody Finnane, Luke Seery, Darragh Seery, Conor Murphy, Killian Bolger, Cian Gavigan, Ryan Boyne, Peter Reynolds, Warric Kirby.
