Murray welcomes underdogs tag

October 15, 2014

Raharney are favourites to lift this year's title and claim their 12th crown at this level, while Pollard are seeking championship number 15, which would put them level with leaders Brownstown.

The Deelsiders have been many people's favourites from the start of the year, while Castlepollard caused a huge surprise by defeating defending champions Castletown-Geoghegan at the semi-final stage.

Murray accepts that Raharney should be favourites, but he stressed to the Westmeath Examiner that his side will not be found wanting on the day.

"Raharney are the team that everyone picked after a game or two. I think everyone outside Castlepollard thinks Raharney are going to win," admitted Murray.

"They are a very well balanced team with a nice blend of youth and experience. John Shaw is a brilliant player who always produces on the big occasions, and they have the Grevilles and the young Doyles.

"We are quietly confident in our own ability. If you believe you can win it, then you are in with a chance."
