September 22, 2014

Minor Championship
St Lomans Mullingar 1.07 St Marys Rochfortbridge 3.11
St Lomans suffered defeat in the quarter final of the championship against St Marys Rochfortbridge under floodlights in Lakepoint Park on Friday night last.
The visitors set an early marker by registering a goal and three points in the opening quarter with Ronan O Toole pointing for St Lomans. The damage could have been worse but for two great saves from blues goalkeeper Johnny Moran. St Lomans suffered an early set back when they lost the influential Neil O Toole through injury. James Cox(2) pointed frees reduced the margin but St Marys added three further scores to give them a six point lead at the break.
St Lomans made an encouraging start to the second half when James Baker finished to the net in the opening seconds. Paraic Mc Comb and Brian Reilly added points either side of three points from the visitors. The blues battled hard throughout the half to get back into the game but the killer blow came in the closing stages when St Marys created a fine move and buried to the net. They went on to convert a penalty and two points to finish ten point winners.

U12 Girls

Our U12 girls were beaten by a very strong Mullingar Shamrocks team in the U12 County "B" final in Rochfortbridge recently. This young group of girls can hold their heads up high after reaching the final and hopefully, in the not too distant future, it will be their turn to bring home the silverware to St Lomans.
Our thanks to Steve McCormack who was photographer on the day and also to Dominos Pizza who kindly supplied the refreshments.  Also thanks and appreciation for the huge support from family and friends on the day.
