Multyfarnham GAA Notes

July 21, 2014
Junior Championship.
Multyfarnham 0-17
St Jospeh's 1-6
On a rainy evening in Milltown pass, Multyfarnham manage to secure our third win in this year's Junior Football Championship.
The thunder rolled, the lightning flashed and the rain poured down making conditions absolutely atrocious for football but both teams soldiered on bravely. Fast free-flowing football was not the order of the day as the ball was harder to hold onto than the proverbial duck egg. The first half saw some good performances from Noel Kiernan and Conor Murtagh who stood up to Joey's, physically taking them on and laying down the law. Multy had a good start despite the conditions and but for a soft goal the gap between the sides at half time would have been larger.
The second period saw the rain hold off, slightly, however the thunder claps and lightning flashes continued to light up the sky. Emmet Feerick, Johnny Orme and Chris Cannon made the score board tick while Damien Grifferty was like a stone wall at the back. Nothing went into the backline without Grifferty or his partner in crime, Leo Blake, getting a hand on it. Ronan Wallace and James Greene were impressive on the wings as was Ciaran Madden when he was sprung from the bench.
In the end Multy were the stronger team and, despite a valiant effort St Joseph's, did not have enough in the tank to match them. It was a good game to watch however we have to put this behind us as we now have Ballycomoyle next Sunday in the next round.
Underage
The club would like to thank GAA HQ in Croke Park for hosting ourselves and Crookedwood Hurling last Monday. We took our under eight team and a few mentors to the Park for a fun day out. It was a great day and everybody involved really enjoyed the chance to visit Croke Park and to take a stroll around its hallowed turf. A special presentation was made to Joint Treasurer and Mentor Andrew Jenkins who is leaving the club and the country for pastures new Down Under. We would like to wish Andrew and his family all the best in their new venture.
