Tragedy strikes Castlepollard and Ballycomoyle clubs

April 16, 2014
Westmeath GAA is today (Wednesday) mourning over the loss of young Castlepollard hurler and Ballycomoyle footballer Eoin Fagan.

The talented 14-year-old passed away in Crumlin Hospital after a brief battle with a terminal illness last Saturday.

The community and surrounding areas were left shocked and stunned at this untimely passing. A guard of honour was held by both the Castlepollard and Ballycomoyle clubs.

Eoin's brothers all play hurling and football. Ciaran was due to line out for the Westmeath minor hurlers against Kildare last Saturday in the Leinster MHC when Eoin passed away.

His father Eugene was an outstanding hurler with Castlepollard and represented Westmeath, while he was one of the founding members of the Ballycomoyle GAA club.

To his heartbroken parents Eugene and Maggie, brothers Ciaran, Charles and Shane, grandmother, uncles, aunts and extended family our deepest condolences.

Ar dheis lamh De go raibh se.
